Long, long time ago, first networks were small. Networks housed in a room or single floor. Every computer was connected by cables. At first it was computer-computer type connection. Network without cables is called Wireless Network. It was projected for a supplement of cable, standard networks. It uses radio waves of appropriate frequencies for transmission. Ipso facto, it minimalists a necessity of using cables on the network. Signals can be sent by various frequency bands. The most popular are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The first is the most popular in many countries. The second allows us to repeatedly increase the data transmission speed. 5GHz may be used when a use of 2.4 GHz causes any interference (like operation of several or dozens of network devices operating in the same frequency band). The newest devices allows for management of two connections at the same time (outgoing and ingoing). Each connection can be independent and based on a separate frequency band. This allows to create a functioning side by side connections with customized user preferences of private and public networks. Wireless networks necessitate using of a well-defined infrastructure of creating a connection. Modern routers and modems have high-power transmission antennas. It can be either out- or in-door. In the case of more advanced solutions we can speak about individual antennas with the possibility of adjusting the angle of inclination, in order to obtain the best possible signal quality. In many cases, users wonder which solution is better. Wireless networks became more popular because this solution has a lot of benefits. The first is mobility. Devices (which use 3G) can connect via WiFi (regardless of location, as long as within the network). Huge and undeniable advantage of this solution is simplicity of an expansion of network and adding new working hosts.
The problem is safety. Although, administrator has a lot of capabilities of security, burglaries are inevitable. An area which involved in burglaries of WiFi (if it is possible to call that) was called Wardriving or Warchalking. Wireless networks are the future of the computer industry. They determine the direction of development network solutions, so it is worth to invest in appropriate equipment and software.
