If you you appreciate your mental health then you should not call to your internet provider support hotline and tell “My Internet connection does not work”. Before you will make such kind call you should first check what does not work. Maybe the problem is in your local (i.e. home) network and support consultant will not help you.
In case of some internet providers, problems with DNS (Domain Name Server) are very common. How is it manifested? For example you can observe that some services (i.e. you can not open any web site) do not work and some operate (e.g. instant messenger). How can you check this? You can do this in many ways, however result of ping command will tell you a lot. Here you have an example of successful output:

It means that DNS server works (i.e. google.com domain address was translated to 188.8.131.52 IP address) and you have connectivity with the host. However, if you see something like this:
Ping request could not find host google.com. Please check the name and try again.
then it means that you do not have connectivity with DNS server. To make sure that the issue is on the side of provider’s server, you can check connectivity with an alternative server, e.g. 184.108.40.206 which belongs to Google.

Now we know where the problem is. How to fix it? The simplest way is to configure working DNS server on your computer or home WiFi router. In case of Windows operating system, this operation is very simple. At first, you open Network and Sharing Center and then Change adapter settings.
Now, you have to open Properties of TCP/IPv4 protocol and fill in Google’s DNS server IP address.
Of course you have to do the same on all your computers, so it looks that it would be easier to configure static DNS address on your router in WAN connection settings.
