Speed Test - Internet Connection and Hardware check

Did you notice the websites are loading slowly? Do you feel the files are downloading much longer? Take the speed test, check if you get what you pay for and improve your results. Still slow? Test and speed up your hardware. There are several Speed Test plugins available for your website. See WordPress Speed Test and HTML Iframe Speed Test components.

Speed Test - Internet check

SPEEDRON is the best place to perform an Internet speed test. Every day a lot of tests are performed. The site offers global coverage for Internet testing. First the PING is measured. Result is presented in miliseconds. The lower result is better. Second and third steps are bandwidth measurements - Download and Upload, respectively. Results are presented in Mb/s (Mega bits per second). The higher result is better. See also how does the speed test work.

How to improve your Internet speed?

Make sure that your local connection to a home router (edge of your local network) is possibly the highest. When your ISP tells you should have a 100 Mb/s downlik and you use WiFi there is no way to get right results. You need to connect to the network using a cable. Check if nobody and nothing is using your connection. When other user runs a torrent client for downloading files the results will be probably wrong.

Speed Test - Hardware check

SPEEDRON also provides a great feature to perform online benchmark of your hardware. It measures hashrates for calculating popular crypto algorithms like MD5, SHA1 and SHA256. The last one is widely used in the IT world i.e. for Bitcoin mining. Hashrate means how many encrypted strings can be calculated in a second by your hardware. The results are presented in kH/s (kilo Hash per second). The higher result is better.

How to improve your Hardware Speed?

There are some important things. Make sure you are using the latest version of your browser and the latest Adobe© Flash Player© plugin. No other aplications should be opened so please close everything except your browser. Finally adjust your system power scheme to be in "full power" to achieve maximum that your hardware can do. If you are working on notebook, connect the power adaptor.

How is the "SPEED rate" calculated?

After the test you can see your Internet and Hardware rates. They are calculated from the max and average results values that were achieved in Speedron.com. If you reach 75% that means your results meet the Speedron.com average values. More than 75% is calculated proportional to the difference of max and average values corresponding to your result. For each of two categories (Internet and Hardware) the average values from each step are calculated. There is an exception in case of Download factor. Download result weight is 5 times greater than Ping and Upload weights. In case of Ping rate the procedure of calculation is inversed because the lower result is better.

What are current max and average values?

Min Ping: 2ms, Max Down: 351.83Mb/s, Max Up: 130.33Mb/s, Max MD5: 51.22kH/s, Max SHA1: 48.22kH/s, Max SHA256: 35.23kH/s

Avg Ping: 53ms, Avg Down: 20.13Mb/s, Avg Up 9.23Mb/s, Avg MD5: 11.32kH/s, Avg SHA1: 13.25kH/s, Avg SHA256: 9.14kH/s
